Most people have never hired an interior designer before. Here is exactly what happens, how long each step takes and what you have in your hands at the end of it.
Step 1: First meeting
1 to 2 hours, free
We meet at your home or on a video call. You show Mimi the space and tell her what is not working. She tells you honestly whether she is the right fit, and what a realistic budget looks like.

Step 2: Concept and mood board
2 to 3 weeks
Mimi measures the space and presents a concept: layout options, a material palette and a mood board you can hold in your hands.
You receive: Floor plan options, a material board and a first budget estimate.
Step 3: Detailed design
4 to 8 weeks
The chosen concept becomes a full set of drawings: electrical and lighting plans, millwork, kitchen and bath details, and a complete schedule of finishes and furniture.
You receive: Construction drawings, a furniture plan and an itemized budget.
Step 4: Renovation and site visits
Depends on scope
Mimi helps you choose a contractor, then visits the site to check the work against the drawings and solve problems before they become expensive.
You receive: Regular site reports and one person to call with every question.
Step 5: Installation and handover
1 to 3 days
Furniture, lighting, art and accessories are delivered and installed in one go. You walk in to a finished home, with care instructions for every material.
You receive: A finished, styled home and a folder of warranties and care notes.
About fees and budgets
The design fee is fixed after the first meeting and does not change unless the scope does. Furniture, materials and construction are paid directly to suppliers and contractors, with every invoice visible to you.
If the budget and the wish list do not match, you will hear it in the first meeting, together with where the money is best spent.
